Install the operating system in Windows using Virtual Box
Dual booting ... it is one alternative if you want to install two operating systems in the PC / Laptop. What if 3 to 5 operating systems in one computer? His name may be many boot hehehe ... This time I will be sharing how to install 3-5 operating systems in one computer. VirtualBox is a tool which I will use, this tool is the same function with VMware Fusion or Parallels or virtual tools laen. The difference is only in operation and such tools are open source.
VirtualBox which was originally developed by Innotek GmbH. before it was acquired by Sun Microsystems are available in versions of Windows, Linux and OpenSolaris. And it appears that future development is focused on the enterprise that promotes speed and stability performance. In addition Virtual Box is also open source and can be downloaded at the official website. With a large file only about 48 MB, VirtualBox has features ranging from drivers, folder sharing, USB interconnect, printers, and other no less complete than VMware Fusion or Parallels. Interested? So let's try ...
VirtualBox install its first
Then run VirtualBox, click | New | then you will go to the window Welcome to the New Virtual Machine Wizard, you click the | Next | then the window will appear as below
Enter the name of the operating system to be installed, this time we are going to install Ubuntu 8.04 and adjust the options on the "OS Type it". If the operating system is diiinistal no choice then just select "Other / Unknown". OS Type option only allows us to set up a virtual space that will be used. After you select it and click | Next |
In this window we will choose how much capacity we will allocate memory in our virtual OS. Keep in mind, if we will mengistal more than one system in a Virtual Box then we have to manage the allocation of memory to be used by adjusting the capacity of memory (RAM) that we have. Logically such as 2 GB of RAM then at least we should menglokasikan at least 512 MB for the operating systems 'host' (main OS) and the remainder for the operating system within virtual machines, for example, we average out of 256 MB each OS then we can install OS 6. The risk is if the computer will slow to a six OS's on the road together. After allocating memory and then click | Next |
In this window we will create a virtual hard drive that will be used to install your OS. Select | New | then you will enter in the window "Welcome to the Create New Virtual Disk Wizard" from the window click | Next |. Select the "dynamically expanding image" then click | Next | again. A little explanation button | Existing | can be chosen if we had possessed prior to the extension of the Virtual Hard Drive. VDI.
Here we will allocate how much capacity we use a virtual hard drive. Default of the Virtual hard drive storage is C: \ Documents and Settings \ user_name \. VirtualBox \ VDI \ Ubuntu 8.04.vdi. We can move it by clicking the folder icon to the right of the name of the OS on the "Image File Name". Then click | Next | Next click the | Finish |. Then click | Next | again.
Well now we already have a virtual hard disk with a capacity of 3 GB. Then we just install the OS Kila pilih.Dengan a double click on the OS will be installed. Will then be entered in the window "Welcome to the First Run Wizard" click | Next |
To install we can use the OS CD (CD Ubuntu 8.04 here) or use the image file / iso with the extension. Iso
After the OS installed successfully, then the next is to install VirtualBox Guest Additions that all hardware can work well, such as soundcards, network, usb, synchronization and other hardware. The first step is to select | Settings | select | CD / DVD-ROM | then check Mount CD / DVD Drive on the ISO image file navigate to C: \ Program Files \ Sun \ xVM VirtualBox \ VBoxGuestAddition.iso
Then run the operating system by clicking the | Start |
Make sure the CD icon VBOXADDITIONS already entered, then install the Guest adition it with this command:
sh. / VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
Once the Guest Addition installed it with the shortcut | CTRL + L | we can go Seamless mode Mode
Good luck
