India Launches Laptop Worth Rp335.000

NEW DELHI, KOMPAS.com - India has performed with the world's cheapest laptop, a touch-screen computer device worth 35 U.S. dollars, or approximately USD 335,000.

The device was developed by a team of researchers at the major technological institutes in India, Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science. India spends as much as 3 percent of its annual budget on school education and literacy rates have increased to cover 64 percent of the 1.2 billion citizens.
However, various studies have shown many students can barely read or write and most government schools do not have adequate facilities.
