Bos WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, plans to run for the Australian parliament in elections next year, though still facing criminal charges in Sweden and the status of house arrest in England.
40-year-old man is currently struggling to avoid extradition to Sweden due to allegations of sexual harassment. In addition, he is still trying to avoid the Supreme Court of England.
"Julian Assange still might run for the senate Australia despite still being held," WikiLeaks said as quoted from the pages of the Washington Post.
All Australian citizens are entitled to run for parliament. However, only a few have survived without the support of political parties. Now, only one of about 76 senators who did not carry the name of Australia a party.
Assange presumably it would not gain majority support. However, its popularity seems to attract the support of four percent of the vote.
Julian Assange arrested in England, Tuesday, December 7, 2010, by order of the Swedish government. Assange was arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual harassment, and illegal coercion in the Scandinavian countries.
Assange denies the allegations of sexual crimes that occurred during his visit to Sweden in August 2010. His lawyer claims the allegations came from 'sexual dispute that both parties agree, but without safety'.
